These are the rules and laws that we as PACRA officially reference as the basis of our operations.

This Act continues the existence of PACRA as a legal entity. It also provides for the functions of PACRA, constitution of the Board and provides for matters connected with or incidental to the forgoing.

This Act promotes the development of the economy by encouraging entrepreneurship, enterprise efficiency, flexibility and simplicity in the formation and maintenance of companies.

This Act provides for corporate receiverships, appointment of receivers and the duties and responsibilities of receivers; business rescue, appointment, duties and responsibilities of business rescue administrators

This Act provides for the registration of business names which may be a firm or a sole proprietorship.

This Act provides procedures and requirements for patenting an invention, rights accruing from patentability and how to protect such rights. It is supplemented by Patent Regulations which provide further details and prescribe forms in respect of various applications relating to patents.

The Act provides for procedures and requirements for registration, assignment and transfer of trademarks, rights accruing from registration and their protection. Detailed procedures and prescribed forms are provided in Trade Marks Regulations made under the Act.

This Act provides procedures and requirements for registration of industrial designs, rights arising from registration and the assignment and transfer of such rights and their protection. Detailed procedures and prescribed forms are provided in Regulations made under the Act.

This Act to provide for the creation of security interests in movable property so as to contribute to economic development; harmonies secured transaction laws; provide for harmonization of conflict of laws in order to promote the financing of international trade and make security interests effective against third parties, establish a Collateral Registry and provides for matters connected with, or incidental to, the foregoing.

This Act, among other things, establishes a register for layout-designs or topographies of integrated circuits; provides for a transparent legal framework for the protection, registration, rights over, infringement or use of, and access to, layout-designs or topographies of integrated circuits; provides for the authorisation of exclusive assignments or licences by a qualified owner or prospective qualified owner of layout design rights to an assignee or a licensee; establishes streamlined procedures for obtaining a compulsory licence, licence to remedy anti-competitive practices and use of layout-designs or topographies of integrated circuits for public or non-commercial purposes; and provides for matters connected with, or incidental to, the foregoing.

This Act provide for copyright in literary, musical and artistic works, computer programs, audiovisual works, sound recordings, broadcasts and cable programs; to provide for rights in performances and matters incidental to or connected with the foregoing.

This Act, among other things, provides for a transparent legal framework for the protection of, access to, and use of, traditional knowledge, genetic resources and expressions of folklore, which also guarantees equitable sharing of benefits and effective participation of holders; recognises the spiritual, cultural, social, political and economic value of traditional knowledge, genetic resources and expressions of folklore of holders; promotes the preservation, wider application and development of traditional knowledge, genetic resources and expressions of folklore; recognises, protects and supports the inalienable rights of traditional communities, individuals and groups over their traditional knowledge, genetic resources and expressions of folklore; confers rights on traditional communities, individuals and groups and promote the conservation and sustainable utilisation of the country’s biodiversity resources; and provides for matters incidental to, or connected with, the foregoing.

This Act removes doubt as to the validity of, and to declare valid, certificates heretofore issued for the purposes of the Companies Act under the hands of public officers other than the Registrar of Companies.
