The Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA) in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), a UN agency mandated to promote intellectual property, has embarked upon a programme to build capacity at national level in the use of appropriate technologies to address urgent development challenges the country is facing.
PACRA Study Tour To New Zealand Registry
PACRA Board Chairman, some board members and technocrats from PACRA management team undertook a tour to New Zealand’s Companies Registry from 27th to 29th March 2012.
The visit was undertaken within the context of the Agency’s modernization and decentralization programme encapsulated in its Strategic Plan for the period 2011 to 2015. The objective was to familiarize and review the New Zealand Companies registration system with a view to learn from the best country in the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ – Starting a Business category.

Pacra Participates at the China International Fair for Investment and Trade
PACRA participated in the 15th China International Fair for Investment and Trade which took place from the 8th to 11th September 2011 in Xiamen. The Zambian delegation leader was the Permanent Secretary from the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry (MCTI).
The Xiamen fair is one of the biggest trade shows in the world and this event brought together both local and International companies and Government wings from different countries across the globe. The African countries which participated in this fair were – Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, South Africa and Namibia to mention but a few.
Repeal and Replacement of the Registration of Business Names Act
The Registration of Business Names Act Chapter 389 of the Laws of Zambia has been repealed and replaced by the Registration of Business Names Act No.16 of 2011. Click here to view the full article.
